A free Elo calculator: enter your rating and your opponent's to see your expected score and how many points you gain or lose for a win, draw or loss.
The Elo system compares your rating with your opponent's. The stronger your opponent, the more points you win for a victory and the fewer you lose for a defeat. A 200-point gap means the stronger player is expected to score about 75%.
The K-factor sets how fast a rating changes: 40 for new players, 20 for most players, and 10 for players above 2400 in the FIDE system.
